Mary’s mission field is a group foster home for girls in Deer Park.  Since 2009, she has been matched one-on-one to eight residents who have all become her friends.  Mary has ministered God’s love to everyone in the home and she has opened the eyes of her church to the needs of orphans right around the corner.

Last night, a dozen friends and family from church, brought the girls their annual Christmas party. This is how she described it:

“Taco Bell, cookies, brownies, cake, soda, fruit, chocolates galore…. stockings were literally overflowing with gifts, gift cards and cute pjs. Young people and not-so-young people, laughing and joking and playing a crazy game.  Santa Claus was even there! Teens were having fun and being openly loved, accepted and made to feel special no matter how they described themselves.”

The ladies had a Santa come, even though the girls were in their teens. He asked the residents what they would like for Christmas. There was not a dry eye in the place, as several girls said:  “I just want my mom.”

This annual party has meant so much to the girls that many who have “graduated” from the home, were there last night. It is a part of “their Christmas”. It is a place they felt loved and accepted. It is a place they remember experiencing God’s love. It is a place where they heard of and celebrated Jesus birth.

Merry Christmas!

Please consider if God is calling you to a mission field of the fatherless or the group foster home…right around the corner.
